Dress Code
CMP- Elk Grove Dress Code TK-6th Grade
***LABEL ALL Outer Wear, Backpacks, & Lunch Containers with Student’s Name***
Dress Code Violations: Students must follow the dress code Monday through Thursday. They may lose their Free-Dress Friday if they are out of dress code attire. Subsequent offenses may result in a parent being called to deliver appropriate attire.
Tops:
• Collared shirts, plain & without logos; solid white, blue, red, and green. CMP t- t-shirts are permitted as a part of the dress code.
• Turtlenecks are permitted in cold weather.
• Undershirts should be school color (dress code colors).
• Middle School Only- Black & Gray tops permitted
• Spaghetti straps and bare midriffs are not permitted at any time.
Bottoms:
• Plain solid-color cotton pants, skirts, shorts, capris, skorts, and jumpers: khaki, burgundy, or navy blue.
• NO denim/jeans, leggings (as pants), nylon or stretch material permitted except on free dress Fridays.
• Middle School Only- Black bottoms are permitted
• Shorts and skirts must be as long as the student’s fingertips when arms are at their sides.
Outdoor Coats and Jackets:
• Any color is permitted but must be free of distracting media.
• A sweater or sweatshirt in dress code colors should be provided for inside wear.
Socks & Tights:
• Non-distracting colors or designs are permitted.
Shoes:
• Tennis shoes are preferred for safety on the playground. Flat loafers, oxfords, and shoes with enclosed toe and heel straps are permitted with non-slip soles.
• Heels, except for special occasions, are not permitted.
• No distracting decorations, lights, or wheels at any time.
• Appropriate athletic shoes should be worn on PE days.
Backpacks and Lunch Boxes:
• Decorations on these items are to be appropriate.
Jewelry, Hair, and Adornments:
• Jewelry should be simple, non-dangling in nature (for safety and to avoid loss).
• Hairstyles are to be neat and non-distracting.
• Makeup in middle school is to be non-distracting.
• Hats are to be worn outside only.
Free-Dress Fridays!
• Clothing must be clean, neat, and fit properly. Again, no ripped or distressed pants.
• Shoes must be appropriate for play; no wheels, lights, or flip flops
• Clothing and accessories must be appropriate for school (e.g., no action figures or wording depicting violence or drugs).
